The Management Team

3IS is a group of experienced engineers and experts specializing in automotive electronics, hardware and software design, validation, and benchmarking.

Our perspective is shaped by decades of hands-on work in the development and release of automotive electronic systems and components.

While our company is composed of numerous domain experts, our leadership team has been driving the business forward for almost four decades.

JOHN CAIN

CEO / Founder

John is an industry specialist in automotive electronics hardware, software and software development. Early in his career, John worked in business development and product marketing roles for United Technologies and Lucas Electronics (now TRW).

 

Later in his career, positions included Director of Automotive at International Rectifier, Director of Automotive at Philips Semiconductors (now NXP), VP of Automotive at Siemens Microelectronics (now Infineon), and VP of Marketing and Sales at Vector CANtech. In 2002 John formed 3IS, providing electronics research tools, benchmarking and consulting services to the automotive industry.

 

His consulting engagement roles have included: VP of Sales and Marketing, PLM Program Manager, Connected Vehicle Program Manager, and Marketing Analyst providing Linux based infotainment software product market requirements. John is an established author, having written a patent on IT related, server query processes and numerous white papers focused on automotive software development.

 

John holds a BA from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Loyola University.

MICHAEL LANE

Dir., Program Management

Michael has worked in automotive electronics hardware and software for over two decades, mostly with Tier One suppliers with roles in design, quality, sales, and project management.

 

Michael’s other experience includes technical training,  product benchmarking and costing, and leading complex, technology-driven projects in factory automation and material handling.

 

Michael holds a BSEE from Lawrence Technological University and is certified in project management (PMP) from the Project Management Institute.

DALE KOCH

Dir., Electrical Engineering

Dale is a specialist in automotive electronics hardware, software, and electrical architecture.  Dale spent the majority of his career at Chrysler, releasing everything with a connector except the battery, alternator and starter. 

 

Dale also spent 2 years as resident engineering manager at Chrysler's Brampton Assembly Plant.  Dale retired from FCA/Chrysler in 2014 and has been doing consulting ever since.  Dale holds a BSEE from Michigan State University and an MSEE from U of M Dearborn.

SAM BELLESTRI

Dir., Electrical Systems Arch.

Sam is a specialist in automotive electronics hardware, software, electrical architecture, vehicle communications, diagnostics, and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC).

 

Sam spent most of his career at Chrysler, working in the EMC Test Labs, designing, and releasing Body Electronics, Powertrain Electronics and Wiring, as well as managing vehicle communications, systems & architectures.

 

Sam was also responsible for the design & delivery of Chrysler’s Service Diagnostic Tools and Managed the Dealer Technician Help Desk (STAR Center).  He also served as Program Manager for a Global Powertrain Software Development Process initiative.  Sam retired from FCA/Chrysler in 2017 and after a year as a Battery Test & Validation Engineer at A123, has been doing consulting ever since.  Sam holds a BSEE from Lawrence Technological University and an MSE from The University of Michigan.
